Today’s photo tip is a little late! Please accept my apologies! Today in our ongoing conversation about photography I want to talk about the basics of taking ‘better’ photographs and how to go about it. Of all the things we need to do as photographers nothing counts nearly as much as practise. Practise, practise and practise are the three most important steps we should take everyday.
Accept no excuses from yourself. If you don’t have your DSLR practise looking, noticing, see the beautiful scene, watch how the light moves across the landscape. Observe your fellow man and woman, watch their interactions, their facial expressions, how they walk. There is nothing that makes beautiful digital photograph than the ordinary and everyday because most of us never pay it any attention.
If you do have a camera, then get to work!
Great tip. I always see people who complain about their images lack because they aren’t good enough. I always tell them to get out and practice. We are artist, we are visual, we need to be able to see what works, how it worked, and what made it work. This makes the difference between someone who wants to be a photographer and someone who just picks up a camera in my eye.
Thank you Jimmy!
I love the cool tones Brian. Very nice indeed.
Thank you!
Magnifique, j’adore, beau travail!!!
Merci!
Brian~ You are inspiring me to get my camera out ~ you speak about looking around with your camera eye. I love this! I look around with my ‘sign’ eye ~ looking for answers to challenges and questions from the signs the Universe gives me ~ most always they are found in nature. I had gotten away from people ~ as a lifelong bodyworker I often assessed this from a physical stand point but will now take a more diligent look at people an image capturing eye!
Well thank you so much Laura! It’s not the camera that makes a photo, its not the type writer that writes the best seller – its the human brain, the mind, the imagination! It all starts with noticing, paying attention!
